Roadmap

Roadmap

RootLinePress is moving from a working genealogy plugin toward a public, supportable, freemium WordPress product.

Near-term priorities

The current priority is productization discipline: compatibility, documentation, public positioning, and safe release practices before paid features are introduced.

Stabilize the free core

Keep import/export, public pages, editing tools, review workflows, and reports reliable before adding commercial infrastructure.

Improve documentation

Publish practical setup, shortcode, review, backup, and release-validation guidance for WordPress site owners.

Plan commercial services

Design licensing, update delivery, customer support, and paid-feature boundaries without breaking existing installs.

Productization path

  • Current: public product identity, product website, plugin package, About page, documentation labels, and compatibility commitments.
  • Next: public documentation expansion, release checklist refinement, demo-data planning, and stronger public page examples.
  • Later: optional Pro feature planning, commercial update delivery, support model, customer terms, and license-service design.

Compatibility commitments

RootLinePress is using a product-facing name while preserving the existing internal plugin folder, text domain, constants, classes, admin slugs, shortcodes, database tables, and CLI commands during this productization phase.

This approach avoids unnecessary disruption for existing installs and keeps the path open for a controlled migration plan later.

Commercial readiness status

RootLinePress is not currently selling licenses, subscriptions, or paid support. Pro features, license enforcement, automatic commercial updates, and customer accounts are not active yet.
